Dr. Cordell Rech is originally from San Antonio, TX where he was able to shadow a local veterinarian as a senior in high school. By working in the kennels and as a veterinary assistant, Dr. Rech developed a passion for veterinary medicine. After attending undergraduate school in Arkansas, Dr. Rech was accepted into Texas A&M's veterinary school where he focused his learning on treating a wide variety of exotic species in addition to dogs and cats.
Upon graduating from Texas A&M, Dr. Rech chose to participate in a small animal medicine and surgery internship with South Texas Veterinary Specialists. This internship allowed him to work closely with small animal specialists on difficult cases and gain a large amount of practical experience within a short period of time. At the end of this internship, Dr. Rech continued to gain clinical experience through an avian and exotic animal internship in Connecticut with South Wilton Veterinary Group. During his time there, he treated more than 80 different species of animals ranging from parakeets to geckos to fish. Dr. Rech then continued his career at a clinic in upstate New York before returning home to continue working with exotic animals and be closer to his family in North Richland Hills. Dr. Rech lives with his Standard Poodle, Lily, and his Japanese Fire-Bellied Newts. In his free time, Dr. Rech enjoys swimming, cooking, and traveling.
